Skorpion Zinc U17 Cup semi-finals confirmed


Otjozondjupa Region will meet Karas and Erongo will take on Omaheke Region in the semi-finals of the 2018 Skorpion Zinc Under-17 Cup underway at Grootfontein following the conclusion of group stage action on Heroes Day at Omulunga Stadium.

Morgan Nauseb, Vitjiutaije Metjavi, Titus Dohimen scored for Otjozondjupa Region in their 4-2 win over Oshana Region to make it four wins from four and top Group A on 12 points. The host will now take on Group C winners, Karas region, who rested on Heroes Day, on Monday, 27 August at in the first semi-final at 08h00 at the Omulunga Stadium.

The second semi-final will be at 09h15 between Erongo and Omaheke both from Group B. Erongo won the group after their two wins on Heroes day, defeating Oshikoto, 2-0 thanks to goals from Bradley Geingob and Hendrico Safufire while Freeman Francois joined Geingob for a 2-0 win over Kavango West.

Erongo won the group with 10 points while Omaheke joins them in the semi-finals as the best runner-up. Omaheke led the Group over-night on five points and in their final game defeated Oshikoto 2-1 thanks to Munatjike Muriani and Vakaa Tjitaura.

The third place playoff match will be at 12h00 before the curtain finally comes down with the crowing match set for 13h15 at the noisy Omulunga Stadium in Grootfontein also on Monday, 27 August.

Altogether, 53 goals have been scored in 26 matches at the 2018 Skorpion Zinc under 17 Cup with four games to go.
