Amseb lead the goals at Skorpion Zinc U17 Cup

Otjozondjupa Regions’ Ulpianus Amseb is leading the goals-scoring chart at the 2018 Skorpion Zinc Under-17 Cup underway at Grootfontein as the impressive youngsters score 35 goals in 18 games and defending champions Omusati eliminated.

Spurred on by the ferocious home crowd, Otjozondjupa Region have won their opening three games and their goals hero is Ulpianus Amseb who leads the charts with four goals. In second place, the Karas Region duo of Dandre Both and Djorkaef Stein are each on three goals together with Omaheke region’s Simon Elago.

Armando Isaacks from Karas Region have scored two goals to help his side become the first side to reach the semi-finals after day two, while Omusati Region’s Erastus Ambambi two goals were not enough to keep the defending champions in the competition.

Also on two goals are Norbert Tjizao from Oshikoto; Shiyamba Shiyamba from Kavango East and Owen Damaseb of Khomas. Tjizao and Shiyamba can add to their tally on Heroes Day while Damaseb will surely relish his strikes as Khomas heads home.

Today, Group B and A will play out with Otjozondjupa looking to cement first place in-group A as they play Oshana at 09h25 in the second game. The first game, also from Group A will see Kavango East against Kunene at 08h00.

Oshikoto and Omaheke will clash at 10h30 in-group B followed by Kavango West against Erongo. Kunene and Hardap will meet at 13h00, followed by Oshana and Kavango East in Group A and finally Erongo and Oshikoto clash at 15h30 before group action concludes with neighbours Kavango West and Ohangwena doing battle at 16h45.

The semi-finals will be played on Monday, 27 August, Group A winners will take on Group C winners, (Karas) while Group B winners will take on the runner-up from Group A/B.
