Mannetti to makes changes for Zambia clash

Ricardo Mannetti will make changes to the starting line-up to face Zambia on Monday night, 21h00, Namibian time, for the Group B top of the table clash with one eye on the quarterfinals scheduled for Saturday, 27 January at the 2018 Africa Nations Championship finals.

Namibia and Zambia are each on six points from two games and faceoff in the final Group B game on Monday night at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, to decide who finish on top and face either Morocco or Sudan from group A in the quarterfinals, and coach Ricardo Mannetti will rest some key players, he reveals.

“ We have achieved the objective for being in the quarterfinal and now we have to assess whether we risk our defensive players who have been very key to our journey, having not conceded in two games, as we also prepare for the big test of the quarterfinal either against Morocco or Sudan on Saturday, we need to be objective and realistic about our targets and options”, says Mannetti.

To be rested are defenders Riaan Hanamub, Ferdinand Karongee and match winner against Ivory Coast Charles Hambira, due to bookings from the first two games.

Another player due to miss the game against Zambia is striker Hendrick Somaeb who is nursing a thigh injury and Mannetti says Panduleni Nekundi will start on Monday night.

“Nekundi will be rewarded with start on Monday for his goal on Thursday and other players too will get a run and fight for starting places for the quarterfinal. We are done with the group stage and we need to plan further otherwise we not smart”, Mannetti states.

Goalkeepers Edward Maova and Charles Uirab, defenders Tiberius Lombard, Benyamin Nenkavu, Edmund Kambanda and Emilio Martin’ strikers Roger Katjiteo, Itamunua Keimuine and Panduleni Nekundi, as well midfielders , Kleopas Useb, Oswaldo Xamseb and Himeezembi Hengombe are the non-starters in the previous win and some will feature predominantly against Zambia in the Group B decider on Monday night.
