The Brave Warriors will be underdogs against whoever they face at upcoming 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals in Morocco based on their Pot four seeding for the final draw set for Friday 17 November.

Ahead of the draw in Rabat, Morocco tomorrow, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday released the draw procedures that includes the seeding of the 16 teams and Namibia finds themselves in Pot four, together with Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania.

Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti is excited about the draw on Friday as they will be underdogs.

“I'm excited about the draw, can’t wait to see the final draw because we will be underdogs in any group based on our seeding in pot four. The pressure will be on the teams in the other pots to do well and that gives us the chance to cause upsets and go about our business without pressure”, says Mannetti.

The four pots consisting of 16 qualified teams were decided based on a ranking established taking into account the performances at the past editions of the completion designed especially for players plying their trade in their national domestic leagues.

Host Morocco are joined in Pot 1 by Angola, Cote d’Ivoire and Libya, while Pot 2 consist of Cameroon, Guinea, Nigeria and Zambia. Pot C have Congo, Uganda, Rwanda and Sudan and in Pot 4, Namibia, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania.

Morocco are already in Group and the first ball from Pot 1 will head Group B, third one into Group C and the final one into Group D and the rest of the pots will follow the same procedure until the draw is completed.

The CHAN Organizing Committee also approved the calendar for the final tournament to start from 13 January to 04 February 2018 in the following cities: Casablanca (Group A), Marrakech (Group B), Tangier (Group C) and Agadir (Group D).

The opening and final matches will be played at the newly refurbished Mohamed V Complex in Casablanca.

“We go to CHAN to leave a mark and a good mark we intend to stamp in Morocco. We quailed against all odds and now we have another chance to make history and I believe in the boys ability and by Friday when the draw is done we can then properly pressure for those three oppositions in our group so that we continue our good run” states Mannetti.
