The Debmarine Namibia Cup final will be played on Saturday, 02 December in Gobabis as Young African and Mighty Gunners goes head to head for the ultimate prize and glory in local football at the Legare Stadium.

The much anticipated final which was initially set for 18 November at the same venue, has now been moved to a December due to unforeseen circumstances and Barry Rukoro, the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Secretary General explains why.

“This is the biggest event for the remainder of the year and we need to make sure we pull all the stops to make it memorable and thus in consultations with the sponsors, we agreed to have the final on December 2 instead of 18 November, to allow for more marketing and preparations. We take so much pride in this cup and the final between this two sides will be worth all the planning”, Rukoro states.

Match-day tickets will be selling as from Friday, 17 November at Football House and on Computicket outlets at Shoprite and Checkers stores countrywide for N$ 30 each.

Mighty Gunners reached the final courtesy of a 2-0 win over Tura Magic with goals from Pineas Jacobs and David Gabriel in the second half while their teammate Robert Uirab was voted Man of the Match.

Young African got the better of the other Young as they bested Young Chiefs 2-0 thanks to goals from Uauanisa Kamberipa and Elvis Katire. Kamberipa got the first late in the first half and Katire scored at the end of the 90 minutes to complete the victory and passage to the final.

Gunners and African will each receive an increased N$ 30 000 for travel and preparations and Man of the Match will get N$ 5000 and the player will have to select a charity of his choice that will receive an equivalent amount.

In December, 2016, the NFA and Debmarine Namibia announced and signed the agreement worth over N$14 million for three years, marking the richest cup competition in domestic football with the winners guaranteed N$ 500 000.
