Skorpion Zinc Cup semifinals confirmed

Omusati region will face Kavango West in the first semifinal of the 2017 Skorpion Zinc under-17 Cup as they beat Kunene 2-0 to finish top of Group A and Erongo defeated Khomas 1-0 to finish on nine points and will meet groupmate Kavango East who beat Ohangwena 2-1 to finish on eight points.

Khomas Region had to beat Erongo to take the Group and advance to the semifinals, but for the first time in the history of the Skorpion Zinc Under 17 Cup ,they failed to reach the last four as they lost 1-0 to Erongo, thanks to Nghifawala Nghidipohamba’ s goal in the second half.

Erongo will face Kavango East in the second semifinal match at 09h15 at the Sam Nujoma stadium on Sunday, as the boys from Kavango ensured that both Kavangos reach the semifinal for the first time as once as they defeated Ohangwena Region 2-1 in the final match of the group stages to take second place in Group B on eight points, two ahead of Khomas in third place.

Omusati were on seven points and Kunene and six points before their clash on Saturday late afternoon and Kunene needed to win but lost 2-0 to the rampant defending champions, who finished the group on nine points and confirms their date against Kavango West at 08h00 on Sunday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

The teams scored 45 goals on match-day two and Erongo top scored yet again with eight goals as they saw of Oshikoto 7-1 and then defeated Khomas 1-0 to top Group B.

The third place playoff match wil be at 12h00 with the final set for 13h15 and entrance is free.
