African Stars beat Tigers 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Sam Nujoma Stadium to record their second consecutive Standard Bank Super Cup triumph in front of yet another appreciative crowd.

Stars, defending champions and having won their right to play Tigers by winning Standard Bank Super Cup playoffs in August ,beat Tigers 1-0 last year to win the Super Cup for a first time and in August this year Tigers beat Stars 1-0 in the Dr. Hage Geingob Cup and so their meeting this afternoon had incredible significance.

But it was Stars who took honors yet again when it matters most as Panduleni Nekundi, Dennis Ngueza and Treasure Kauapirura scored to lead Stars to an emphatic 3-0 victory to retain the Standard Bank Super Cup.

Stars then found their footing with the likes Ronald Ketjijere, Katiti Hakuria and Edwin Korukuve connecting with the mesmerizing Man of the Match Obrey Amseb.

They took the momentum into the second half and after five minutes, marauding right back Dennis Tjetjinda headed home at the far post to put Stars 2-0 up and from thereon, It was all Stars as they dominated and could have scored more only for wasteful finishing.

Nicky Musambani replaced Hakuria in the first half due to a throat injury on the youngster, Alfeus Handura came on at halftime for Marius Kotze and later on Godwin Jena substituted Edwin Korukuve.

Mapenzi Muwanei and Sakaria Petrus came on for the lackluster Tigers and not could change the game and in the end Kauapirura found space in the Tigers box to beat the hapless David Peterson in added time.

Stars walked away with coveted trophy and a cheque of N$ 500 000 while Tigers received N$ 200 000 for their part in the memorable game. The glittering event had Gazza entertaining the crowd right up to the awards ceremony.
