Namibia Aims High at COSAFA U/20

Namibia will be expecting a much better showing than last year when they take part in the 2010 Metropolitan COSAFA Under-20 Youth Championships in Botswana.

The young Brave Warriors were humbled 9-0 by then hosts South Africa in their opening match in 2009, before going on to lose 4-2 to Seychelles in their final encounter, a set of results that sent shockwaves through the Namibian football fraternity and brought to an end the coaching reign of Richard Starke and Willem Kapukare.

Capacity Building with FUTURO III Course

The FUTURO III Administration and Management Course takes place on Monday at Midgard Country Estate and will be attended by 29 local aspiring football administrators.

The participants will be introduced to FIFA and its development programmes, its confederations and FIFA Statutes on Monday morning.

The programme will continue with introduction on FIFA’s member Association and General Football management.


The Namibia Football Association is hosting the FIFA FUTURO III course in Administration and Management at Midgard Country Estate that starts on Thursday 18 November with the Potential Regional Instructors meeting.

A Record attendance at Oshakati Grassroots Festival

The second leg of the FIFA/NFA Grassroots Football festival held at Oshakati is hailed a great success with a record 1800 kids participating in the festival last Saturday.

According to the NFA’s Education officer Timothy Tjongarero, the festival week that started off with a coaching course for 56 participants demonstrated the interest in football development from youth coaches in northern regions for Oshana, Omusati, Ohangwena and Oshikoto.

A five day refresher course for referees is taking place at Shalom Centre on the outskirts of Windhoek. The course is being facilitated by Namibia FIFA Instructors, Spike Hendengwa, Arvo Mufeti and Daniel Mukwanyama. The course organized by the Namibia Football Association is supported by the Namibia Premier League.

The participants hail from Khomas, Omaheke, Karas, Hardap, Omusati, Ohangwena, Oshikoto, Caprivi, Kavango, Erongo, Otjozondjupa, Kunene.

Referees Refresher Course

The NFA National Referees committee will be hosting a refresher course for 1st & 2nd division referees this week in Windhoek.

Venue: Shalom Centre, Goreangab Dam, Mashishi Street, Windhoek.

Oshakati Grassroots festival next week

FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG) senior official, Jean-Marie Conz will be the chief instructor at the Oshakati Coaching Seminar for Grassroots Football festival next week.

The 51-year-old Swiss, will be joined by NFA technical Director Klaus Staerk and other selected officials to conduct a five-day coaching seminar for about 45 coaches from the Oshana, Ohangwena and Omusati regions.

Momentum is building up for the second leg of the FIFA Grassroots Course and festival at Oshakati, starting next week.

According to the organizers of the festival that brought more than 800 kids together in Windhoek in April, preparations for another record participation are on course.

The program at Oshakati will run from 08 to 13 November with a football seminar for coaches’ ad administrators, culminating in football festival for kids on the final day.
