The Brave Warriors takes confidence from thier showing against Morrocco as they look for the elusive victory at the African Cup of Nations against South Africa on Friday night.
Namibia and South Africa are preparing for the Cosafa Derby at the 32nd AFCON Finals in a match with so much significance as both sides lost their opening matches in Group D.
Coach Ricardo Mannetti says pressure is on South Africa and Namibia will do all they can to get their first win at the Finals.
“We come into the match with positives from the Morrocco game and we need to compete and get the result we want. It’s not about the next round but the first win for the country and then anything can happen”, Mannetti states.
The coach adds that the familiarity of the players will also weigh in the outcome of the match.
” The players are very close and some have met so many times before and so that will be interesting. This is our moment to enjoy and make memories and we grab this chance to play against the best on the continent. This is our world cup”, says Mannetti
Ronald Ketjijere says he’s determined to get one over South Africa for two reasons.
” Coach and Co are the class of 1998, the first group to qualify for AFCON and we can be the first group to win a game or reach the next round. The players understand that and we are focused on making rights from the Morrocco match.
Secondly, we have been written off by the South African press that we only here for the pyramids and we need to get that right indeed”, Ketjijere states.
The match between Namibia vs South Africa will be on Friday, 22h00 and will be preceded by the clash between Morrocco and Ivory Coast.
