The Brave Warriors are ready for their 2019 African Cup of Nations opening match on Sunday against Morocco and plans to surprise Africa following a perfect camp in Dubai recently.
Namibia are the underdogs of the “Group of death”, Group D that consist of South Africa, Ivory Coast and Morrocco at the upcoming AFCON Finals that starts in Egypt on Friday, 21 July.
” The camp in Dubai was perfect for us with the hot conditions and also helped us from a mental point of view to balance our preparations ahead of the finals. We are the least expected team to win and that gives us the drive to do extra more and we are prepared to do that”, Mannetti states.
The gaffer adds that his team will set the tone for this campaign with a good showing against Morrocco on Sunday.
“The Ghana match gave us a lot of confidence going into the Morocco match and we are positive that we will be able to surprise Africa. We can’t wait for the game to start so that we can continue to live the dream. Our first goal is to win our first match at AFCON and then the sky is the limit”, says Mannetti.
The Brave Warriors, to arrive in Cairo on Tuesday afternoon from Dubai, will play Morocco on June 23 before taking on South Africa on June 28, both at Al Salam Stadium. They will play their final group game against Ivory Coast on 1 July at Cairo International Stadium.
